A workshop about the multiple identities of Ciudad de México
Presented during the first “What Design Can Do” initiative in Ciudad de México, 7 May 2019
How do memories which happen in urban spaces shape our identity?
Hosted by FIG Projects Founders; Francisca Insulza & Fabrizio Gallanti
Presented by the Embassy of Canada in Mexico
Take part in this collective session related to how the memories of the urban space and life shape our identities as citizens. Each city is composed not only of buildings and streets but also of the layers of the different memories of its citizens. Therefore design in urbanism, in its multiple scales, can contribute to stimulate positive experiences.
After a short presentation, participants will be prompted by questions to remember moments of their life always accompanied to specific places. After which a collective exercise in cartography will take place, as the title suggests that there is not a single city, but as many as its inhabitants. In this case 21 million.
Take away
Experience place related memories, and discover how personal experiences are related to designing urban spaces. Explore the disciplines of architecture and urbanism through a new perspective.
